On September 22, 2010, with the departure of the Expedition 23 crew, Colonel Douglas H. Wheelock assumed command of the International Space Station and the Expedition 25 crew. He is also known as @Astro_Wheels on twitter, where he has been tweeting space photos to his followers since he arrived at the space station.
We thought that we should put some of the space photos together as a tribute to him and the whole ISS crew. The space photos bring breathtaking views from our only off planet Vista point.
The following space photos are all visible on Astro_Wheels’ twitpic account, and we are eternally grateful to him for sharing these space photos with the world. Many have commented directly to him but we want to make it clear Triggerpit does not have any affiliation with Astronaut Wheelock nor NASA. The confusion might have been since all the captions are all his own words as can also be seen on his twitpic account.[29 Pictures]

Marvellous photos of home. Our planet.
freeuntodeath.wordpress.com
New blog, check it out and pass it around.
It’s time to wake up America…
Do we Human been deserve this astounding planet?, I don’t think so. We are extremely destructive.
I am soooooooo jealous. I would give my life to have an opportunity to go to space just to see the earth through Allah’s eyes. They are amazing, spectacular photos that need to be cherished forever……cannot wait to see more.
Lol Allah. You dumb sand monkey.
Go to hell. The only thing that is dumb is your father not pulling out on time.
That was extremely rude and uncalled for. Comments like that make me ashamed to be white
Why assume he’s white?
How do you know Phil is white? This is the problem with racism in America/the world. White people aren’t the only racists, everyone is a little racist! If you don’t think so, look at any form of media. If you can find a single “white only” program out there it would be impressive. (Don’t bother saying the KKK, cause there is a gay/black clan). So take a second and think before you say something that’s just as stereotypical as Phil.
Comments like that make me ashamed to be human. To have anything in common with the first to people is a disgrace!
Please just look up troll on the urban dictionary, you guys just embrace him by getting upset from his ignorence. You wouldn’t be pissed at someone for not know what 2+2 is.
He’s White. You know he is. You’re being ignorant by believing he’s not.
Wow. There´s 7 billion people on the planet, and one of the Top 10 Dumbest found it´s way here. Amazing!
you stupid f**king person. i bet you’re an immoral, worthless, poorly educated american. you don’t deserve the air you breathe. people like you should be sterilised or even better put down.
PEKSY the thing is these people did give their life to this oppurtunity. I feel they are doers and I am a thinker
Allah isn’t real though
I’m not from here but we have a saying in the Outer Limits:
We’d love to see Peace On Earth but you Humans just won’t leave!
The Photos are Out Of This World!
LOL. STEVE HAS GOTTA POINT THERE
Allah may not be totally real, but there is a wonderful Creator God who designed the whole world and who cared enough for us to send His Son to die for us
Allah simply means God… it doesn’t necessarily mean the Muslim, Hindu, Christian, etc God.
aLLah
Why not see it through your own eyes and tell Allah about it if you ever have the chance.
beautiful pictures!!!!!!!!
would do so much to be there!!!!!!
Stunning pictures.
simply amazing!!
ncredible! Truly amazing!
HELLO FROM FRANCE……
YOU ARE LUCKY TO LEAVE ON THE EARTH SO LIKE ME THANKS YOU TO PROTECT IT…..
BYE……….
pic#11 looks like fanning island to me but I guess that’s the same thing as Tabuaeran
Just imagine whats on other worlds wow
Wow…. This blows my mind. Sort of sad though, seeing Italy so soaked in humanity. Makes me wonder where the natural world fits in sometimes.
simply awesome
Thank you so much for sharing such awesome photographs. Seems to put all of our human tribulations into a much different perspective.
It’s impressve, something wonderfull, superb.
Geez, being up there has to make you feel so small and insignificant. It would be an eye opener for anyone, especially this lard ass of a president that shuts down NASA.
Truly amazing stuff, I will forever be a fan of the world outside of our own.
you’re an idiot he didnt shut down nasa. do some research. and lard ass? he’s not fat…..
The picture of the island you were unsure the name about is called The Fanning Island!
Incredible and unimaginable. Such pictures are a treausre.
just simply breathtaking! you must be very very brave to take those pictures out there, that you can see the whole earth! gives me goosebumps just to think i am there flowing thru space with just you guys, depending on each other whatever the consequences maybe. i really salute you all you’re the bravest of all mankind!!!
That is a very HD pics. It’s amazing!
Thank you for the wonderful visions of our planet. It is a view so few people will ever actually get to see themselves and I humbly thank you for sharing your experiences with the rest of the world. There is a reason you were all chosen to go up there, you have big hearts and chose to share the wonders of the universe with the rest of us. Best Wishes, I hope there are future journeys… one day. Cheers, Lynda (PS. Nice picture of Uluru, or Ayres Rock as some call it). Safe travels to all adventurers out there…
Those were simply amazing! The beauty of our planet should make everyone take better care of it.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
These pictures are wonderful and a real ligitimate use of taxpayers money. Beats the lack of beauty of war.. These pictures are just fantastic and words cannot do them the justice they deserve. War and peace are not very compatible. We cannot afford both being world police and #1 in everything. Not and maintain it endlessly anyway.
Wow Some of those Photos were just beautifully stunning.
And as for Allah, God, Zeus, Buda, The all mighty, The creator, The sun God, The watcher, Osiris, Ra.
He goes by many names, some of the names I mention above where worship by some of the greatest civilisations known to man to date. So to call some one a dumb-ass for worshipping the God Allah is just so dumb that if my pet dog had a pet an it had a pet your intelligence would be now where near that of its pet dog…
so the next time you call some one a dumb ass think long and hard about what you are calling them dumb for….
Jerry – your comment here is ridiculous. So many of the comments on this page are so childish. It’s amazing how hurtful and ignorant people are willing to be when they can hide behind the internet and not be known.
Sadly this is just another ‘Stupid Human’ story.
To me it’s sad that so much money and energy is wasted on extraterrestrial endeavor instead of addressing the human condition here on the planet.
Oh look at the pretty glossies…. from far away the warts don’t show but they fester and grow. While we recycle our few grams of house hold waste
the Corporations are pumping hundreds of thousands of tons of pollution into the environment in the name of greed and we overpopulate the planet
like it was infinite…… all the while planning each others destruction…..
Ultimately i agree with you Pal. Lot of polutioin from NASA and the launch fumes. I am interested in space and wish that money wasn’t an issue. Some pictures and info we have gained have been awesome
Progress comes with a price…..if no-one had had the courage to do things that others said were crazy, foolish, childish, blasphemous, too expensive etc etc, we’d still be wearing animal skins and dying of infections that can be cured with penicillin. It’s the dreamers, the scientists and the explorers who have discovered everything that makes your life what it is. Don’t forget that. Yes, there are many things that need fixing with this planet but lets not stop moving forward and discovering.
I applaud people who are pioneers and do what others only dream of. At least someone is out there reaching for the stars………in this case quite literally!
wooooooow these pics are wick man i wish i was out there looking at the wonder of earth
Beautiful, so sad we gave away our space program and get the opportunity to pay for the privilege of seeing gorgeous photos supplied by another country. Our government had no .right to discontinue the space program without a vote by the American people since we the people paid for it
Absolutely, cljoyner…In fact…In this age of technology…There is NO REASON why the American People can not vote on ALL aspects of our government…Abolish Congress & allow True government “BY THE PEOPLE”…I suppose we would have to keep the Justice department & the Executive branch…As central command…But only if the People have the final vote…
I’m sure there are pictures you are not sharing with us – the brilliance of the city of MAKKAH/MECCA
i love all ur pictures it was just amazing but anything terrible like astriod hit the eatth i do not like that to happen so good that tthese pictures didn`t have anything terrible.
i love all ur pictures it was just amazing but anything terrible like astriod hit the eatth i do not like that to happen so good that these pictures didn`t have anything terrible.
The Magnificence and beauty of the Universe is such, that any invented terrestrial god (Allah, Buddha, Christ, Krishna or any other fantasy) can be easily discarded…..
thanks, just thanks
or
go raibh milè maith agat
There are few words and a veritable flood of emotions and thoughts conjured by your stunning and mind-blowing photographs. Amazing and Soul-stirring come to mind.
Thank you so much for sharing these, I’ve always wanted to go out just once in my lifetime and perhaps it will happen, perhaps not – but this glimpse warms my heart and your quoting the great Satchmo (Louie Armstrong himself) with that one image brought a great big smile to my face. Makes one wonder why more people can’t get a little shift in perspective and choose to live a better life and stop all the irrational hatred and wastage of lives, resources and time.
The things we could achieve, if only…
Anyway, thanks again, you guys and those like you who strive for taking mankind further and working for a better tomorrow and pushing the boundaries of human endeavour are my true heroes and I salute you and bow my head in respect and admiration.
Cheers.
Just AMAZING!
Absolutly breath taking, I would give anything to go to space
I want to become an astronaut!!! No other options!
